Gym and Physical Education Program
Each class has regular sessons with Physical Education and Development specialist Renee Parolisi. Her approach and program exemplifies the Nutfield philosophy of helping each of our students develop to their fullest in all areas. As she writes:
"It
is essential that pre-school and kindergarten children develop an active
and healthy lifestyle. It's through physical activity and a well-developed
movement program that children’s brains learn principles such as rhythm,
sensory awareness, body movement and control, flexibility, strength and coordination.
Through these physical experiences young children develop a strong foundation
for learning as well as maintaining a healthy body.
Children enjoy challenging physical activities, and these activities support
their mental and physical growth. Our activities are based on appropriate
guidelines through the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
As the Physical Education teacher my responsibility is to create activities
that are safe and fun while developmentally appropriate.
Being physically active not only provides important health benefits, but
also provides children opportunities to learn through movement."
