We will add other fun stuff as the year goes on. (Go to our private classroom page for in-class updates, co-op schedules, and more.)

Songs

Here are some of our favorite songs we sing each day in class. Be sure to visit the Nutfield Music Library to find songs we sing in music class, including such favorites as I Saw A Ghost, I Had A Cat, and The Wiggle Hello song.

Daily Welcome Song

Hello my friends,
What do you say?
It’s going to be a wonderful day!
Clap your hands,
And stomp your feet
Reach for the sky,
And now sit on your seat!

Daily Thank You song
(before snack)

We’re thankful for the food we eat.

We’re thankful for the friends we meet.

We’re thankful for the golden sun, the trees,

The birds and everyone.

Daily Weather song

What’s the weather like today, like today?

What’s the weather like today, like today?

Is it sunny, is it cold, will the chilly wind blow?

What’s the weather like today, like today?

Daily Goodbye song

Goodbye to all my friends,

Goodbye to all my friends,

Goodbye to all my friends,

We’ll see you again next time.

May Song

It is May, it is May.

We made some new friends, we made some new friends.

Summer time is coming, summertime is coming.

The school year ends, the school year ends.

Fish Swimming In the Water

All the fish are swimming in the water, swimming in the water, swimming in the water.

All the fish are swimming in the water.

Bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble, splash!

(We change the fish to other ocean creatures and move around the circle in a variety of ways. At the end we sit back on our squares and bubble with our feet and point our feet to the ceiling on the word splash.)

Let's Be Friends

Let’s be friends with one another (sing 3X)

Let’s be friends today.

(This next section we do as an echo song)

You can share with a friend. (echo)

You can dance with a friend. (echo)

You can jump with a friend. (echo)

Let’s be friends today.

(We then sing the first two lines again together and then the children offer suggestions about what else they can do with a friend.)

Join The Circle

Come join in the circle

There’s room for everyone.

Come join in the circle

There’s room for everyone.

Clapping in the circle

Clap, clap, everyone.

Clapping in the circle

Clapping everyone.

(We then sing the first four lines again, then change the action until all our friends are over at circle)

Poems

"S" Poem

Six little snowmen all made of snow,

Each has a hat and a bright red bow,

Out came the sun and it shone all day,

One little snowman melted away.

Five little snowmen…..

Choosing Appropriate Snacks

At Nutfield, we care about the food that goes into the bodies of our students. We really want them to be the best they can be. On your co-op day, you need to prepare and bring snack. We provide plates, napkins, and water, the best hydrator. We would like your cooperation in providing healthy and appropriate food for our class. Please include your child in the snack decision and preparation, and doing this a day or two in advance will help this to go smoothly! To further help you in providing snack, we offer the following guidelines. We provide plates, napkins, and water, the best hydrator.

Snack should consist of two items, the first being a prepared fruit or vegtable. Some suggestions would be:

Fruits

Veggies

(with or without veggie dip)

The second snack item should come consist of a protein or whole grain food. Some suggestions would be:

Please do not bring nuts or popcorn because these items present a choking hazard. Also, be sure to check the Classroom page for any food allergies present in the class.

Some families want to send in something special on their child’s birthday , which is fine. If you decide to do this, your child will be able to give these out at the end of the day so please wrap cupcake/cookie individually and arrive for pick up a little early to help your child give them out as the children leave.

There are, of course, other healthy snacks not listed above. Use your own good judgment or feel free to run an idea by Mrs. Dionne.

Photos

Take a look at photos from our days. In the classroom, we also have a class photo album with many more pictures that you can sign out to borrow.

listening walkIn December, we went on a listening walk. On the walk we documented the things that we heard. The children drew the pictures, the adults labeled their pictures.

dancingOne day when the clean up music ended, a song with a great dancing beat came on and the children spontanously started dancing!
reading names

We take turns each day reading the names of our friends to release children from circle one at a time. If the reader doesn't know a name he asks a friend to help him and the friend whispers the name in their ear. The funny part is, whether they know the names or not, they often ask a friend to help them with this job. I'm guessing they do that just because it's more fun!
