Summer Programs 2006

Summer Programs 2006This year our summer programs give you two different options: six two day programs, and four one day programs. You may sign up for any combination of programs. Enrollment is limited and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Payment is due at registration. No refunds. We reserve the right to cancel the program if enrollment is not sufficient in which case refunds will be made. Snack is provided. Students bring lunch for all but the cooking program.

Two-Day Programs

Trains - $50

Dates: June 5th & 6th
Ages: 3-6, maximum 20 children
Time: 9 AM - 1 PM
Staff: Irene Humel and helper

Description: Does your child love trains? Come and play trains with us. Your child will spend this time reading and singing about trains, making train puzzles, and building a giant train car out of a box. Also we will design and build a new train layout for the school to use next year in the classrooms.

Nutfield Garden - $50

Dates: June 8th & 9th
Ages: 3-6, maximum 20 children
Time: 9 AM - 1 PM
Staff: Kathy Gallagher and helpers

Description: Prepare a garden for planting. Plant seeds and started plants. Water and weed the garden over the summer then harvest the produce in fall. Snack provided, bring lunch.

Students will be working out side, wear play clothes and apply sunscreen/insect repellent at home.

Stampin' for Father’s Day - $50

Rainbows - $50

Dates: June 14th & 15th
Ages: 3-6, maximum 20 children
Time: 9 AM - 1 PM
Staff: Sue Mitchell and helpers

Description: Discover a rainbow. Many objects shine the colors of a rainbow. Learn the colors of the rainbow. Please bring a clean white tee shirt on which to make a rainbow.

Mud - $50

Dates: June 20th & 21st
Ages: 3-6, maximum 20 children
Time: 9 AM - 1 PM
Staff: Kim Vincent and helpers

Description: Come sing the glories of MUD, play with mud, make mud, paint with mud, explore the properties of mud! Great fun in the summer.

Play in a Day & 1 - $50

Dates: June 22nd & 23rd
Ages: 3-6, maximum 20 children
Time: 9 AM - 1 PM
Staff: Helen Bethel and helpers

Description: Calling all thespians! In this program the children will design a set and costumes for a familiar story. They will practice the play and present it to the parents on the last day.

Woodworking - $50

Dates: June 26th & 27th
Ages: 3-6, maximum 20 children
Time: 9 AM - 2 PM
Staff: Sue Dionne and helpers

Description: We will use simple tools (hand drill, hammer, saw, vice, screwdrivers, etc.) to create some wood projects, one of which will be a vehicle.

The Senses - $50

One-Day Programs

Horsing Around - $35

Date: June 6th
Ages: 5-6, maximum 15 children
Time: 9 AM - 12 PM
Staff: Sue Mitchell and helpers

Description: This program will be held at Greenwood Stables on 2 Frost Rd. in Derry. The children will learn the basics about horses, safety, how to clean a stall, what horses eat, equipment, basic parts of a horse, grooming and a ride of your own! The children will also make a horseshoe picture frames to take home.

A liability waiver is required to participate (see Mrs. Gallagher)

Dance/Music - $30

Date: June 7th
Ages: 3-6, maximum 15 children
Time: 9 AM - 2 PM
Staff: Donna Miller & Sue Dionne

Description: Children will explore movement to a variety of music. They will be introduced to a variety of unusual rhythm instruments and they will make a rhythm instrument to take home.

All students should wear sneakers.

Lawn Ornaments - $30

Date: June 16th
Ages: 3-6, maximum 20 children
Time: 9 AM - 1 PM
Staff: Irene Humel and helpers

Description: Children will make decorative yard ornaments, such as a garden stone, they will find a special rock to turn into a special rock critter for the garden and design a yard planter.

Strawberry Picking - $35

Date: June 19th(crop dependent)
Ages: 3-6, maximum 20 children
Time: 9 AM - 1 PM
Staff: Irene Humel and helpers

Description: We will meet at J&F Farm and children and parents will pick strawberries for 45 minutes to 1 hour. We will then go back to school, parents may leave while we make delicious strawberry treats with the children. A sweet time for all.

Hike to Humphrey Playground - $30

Date: June 28th
Ages: 3-6, maximum 20 children
Time: 9-1
Staff: Sue Dionne, Suzanne Mitchell

Description: We will be making trail mix for our hike. Along the way we will be exploring with magnifying glasses, looking for vernal pools, listening and looking for wildlife. We will end with playground fun, including a scavenger hunt.

All students should bring a backpack to carry their lunch in. Parents will pick their children up at the playground.

Investigating Insects - $30

Date: June 30th
Ages: 3-6 maximum 20 children
Time: 9-2
Staff: Sue Dionne, Suzanne Mitchell

Description: We will be making bug catchers, searching for insects, creating some imaginative insects and singing about insects.

Cooking for Kids - $35 (includes lunch)

Date: June 29th
Ages: 3-6, maximum 20 children
Time: 9 AM - 2 PM
Staff: Kathy Gallagher and helpers

Description: Children will choose a menu. Prepare the food. Cook the food. Learn about good nutrition. Eat the meal for lunch.
